Meta-Analysis: The Effect of Anemia in Pregnant Women on the Risk of Postpartum Bleeding and Low Birth Weight

Background: Anemia in pregnancy usually occurs the 1st and 3rd trimesters with Hb levels below 11g% 2nd trimester less than 10.5g%. The prevalence of anemia pregnant women around world ranges from 41.8% to 43.8%, which means that 56-59 million suffer anemia. Factors cause often appear are malnutrition iron deficiency, so can result increased maternal mortality rates (MMR). during fetal death, abortion, birth defects, low weight bleeding labour. Subjects Method: Meta-analysis was carried out using PRISMA flowchart PICO model (Population: women, Intervention: anemia, Comparison: no Outcome: LBW postpartum hemorrhage). databases used PubMed, Research Gate, Science Direct, Google Scholar keywords “maternal anemia” AND “postpartum hemorrhage” cohort, “low weight” cohort. There were 17 cohort studies published 2012-2022 met inclusion criteria. total sample this meta-analysis 719,172. Analysis performed Revman 5.3. Results: articles research designs originating China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Bangladesh, England, Scotland, North America United States involving 719,172 women. A 9 showed risk giving babies 1.35 times compared who not anemic (aOR= 1.35; 95% CI = 1.05 1.75; p=0.020). 8 hemorrhage 1.99 1.99; 1.24 3.18; p=0.004). Conclusion: increase hemorrhage.
